The Power of Art

The Dare Arts Council’s Power of Art program recently exhibited pieces made by participants in OBXDFC called “Expressions”. This program works to bring the joy of art to underserved communities, like those with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Participating groups for April’s exhibit included Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition, Monarch Beach Club, the photography class at Manteo High School, Outer Banks Health, and GEM Adult Day Services. The projects ranged from poetry, photography, weaving, painting, mosaics, and other multimedia pieces. This show brought participants’ creativity to the forefront while also showcasing who they are as individuals.

Once the show was over, we were able to return the pieces back to the artists at Caregivers’ Day Out in Manteo. Check out all of the pictures below!
